What is the difference between high jump shoes and long distance shoes?

I do both in track and I don't know which to invest in. I was thinking of getting High jump shoes. Is that a good choice.|||High jump shoes have a "J" heel. If you ran in those, it would mess up your run. Get both pairs of shoes.

or if you don't want to buy both, run in your training shoes, and buy the high jump shoes. if you run in spikes, it can take up to 3 seconds off your time though...|||I'd go with the jump shoes, then run distance in your flats (regular running shoes).
