How fast should you run a 100m in track and how high do they start the high jump at??

I'm joining my varisty track yeam at my high school and ive never ran track before. How fast do people normally run a 100m or a 200m and how high do they normally start the high jump at??|||For a girl -those times above are WAY off.

It depends on how old you are, but for a varsity girl's 100m

-in the high 11 seconds is Phenominal and is tops Nationally!,

-in the 12 second range is Awesome and would put you among the top in the nation also,

-in the 13 sec range is competitive, and

-in the 14's (not bad) and you can improve with training.

200m -23 to 26 is fantastic %26amp; could compete nationally,

-even 27 is very competitive at a local level.

-28 is really good and with fitness and endurance would improve, and

-up to low 30's you could still get competitive with endurance fitness, speed work, and training on your form.

You'll be surprised how much you improve with track fitness and training AND experience. If you feel you're not as competitive as you'd like to be, you can either be patient with yourself or try longer distances and test out your endurance too- but you won't know what you are capable of there until you train for some time because endurance takes time, and every season you get soooooo much better.

Good Luck!|||idk about 100 but 200m freshman go about 24-26 seconds seniors are less then 24

and high jump wrms up at 5 feet|||something between 11 and 12 sec. will get you in there.

From that point on you will just start improving.|||sorry not really sure|||By the name STEPHANIE, I'll assume you are a girl. Therefore, I encourage you to IGNORE all the boys answers.

In my area, if you sprint at around 13 in the 100 you should be competitive at the varsity level. In the 200, I'd say around 28. I coach Middle School track, so opening height for high jump is a little lower than varsity...but I THINK it's 4'4" for varsity.|||LOL, 9 secs for a 100m.. this is highschool we're talking about.

10.5-11 is what real highschool TRACKSTARS run.

20-22 is the average for 200m

not sure what the high jump is as i never did highjump.|||12 is average, 11 is varsity. They usually start meets at 5' for guys. Lower for dual meets.

lol to the guy who says 20-22 is average. 20 is less then double the 10.5 you said is a track star. If you run 22 or under, you will be the man. But yeah I'll revise my answer.

girls: 12 is good, 13 is also pretty good

27 is competitive anything under is great

high jump starts between 4'- 4 '4"|||should complete in 9 seconds

atleast 20 feet high
